An expansion and opening up of an early 20th century suburban house for a client who just can't stay indoors. This renovation has been designed to achieve an effortlessly flowing internal arrangement and provides a kitchen, office, side access and changing room. A play between naturally lit expansive spaces and cosy snugs is crucial to this scheme which is required to welcome home the cold and wet as well as cater for the warm and cosy. Externally a sensitive use of natural materials and careful detailing around openings make for a tactile building which is grounded in the human scale, allowing us to utilise simple forms without losing the essential warmth of the home.
