Stockley Park, built in the 1980s by leading British architects such as Fosters + Partners, Arup, Eric Parry and SOM, continues successfully today, 25 years on. The competition brief was to create an entrance into this park that befitted the quality of these existing buildings and matched in prominence with the park clients. The successful entry saw a series of new elements set within the landscape: An inverted portal, defining the threshold, bringing stature and statement; and an array of lightboxes between the trees to celebrate the arrival. A rejuvenated landscape brought clarity and elegance to the whole scheme and collectively they create a moment of energy and presence on entry to the park.
